San Carlos Palace: Heritage Adaptation
This project takes place in the city of Bogota (Colombia), in one of the blocks that make up the historic center, where the Palacio de San Carlos is located, in front of the Colon Theater. What is sought with this project is to understand the way in which the block is constituted, how it works, which are its urban relations and those within it, and to see each of the buildings that compose it in order to determine which are the elements that require some kind of transformation.
For this, an evaluation of all these factors is made, which is done from the moment or family to which it belongs (architectural style), understanding its characteristics. On the other hand, to understand if each of the elements behaves as an independent block or as part of the whole, thus generating a rupture or union of the block, all this is necessary to be able to determine the state of consolidation.
Memory Threshold
This is a project that is the continuation of the collaboration between the Universidad Iberoamericana and the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Bogota. The theme that was proposed to be developed was "challenges and opportunities of informal settlements," as in the La Pedrera project; however, in this case, the project takes place in Mexico City. The study sector is San Mateo Tlatenango, one of the towns that, due to the growth of Mexico City, is now part of its metropolitan area.
Honda, Territory of Living Memory
This project is being carried out in the city of Honda, located in the department of Tolima in Colombia, and aims to generate new urban dynamics in the Arranca-plumas area (the city's old port), based on its urban heritage elements, for the revitalization of historical memory and urban development.
